That's a damn fine idea. It'd need looking into properly. Bandwidth and server impact have to be considered, but I don't see why trusted members shouldn't be able to upload images.

[edit] You could upload to the Wiki. Many moons ago when the Wiki was busier, some of us had Journal pages. There's no reason why you can't host stuff to the Wiki under the old User:USERNAME/STUFF_HERE format. As long as people don't hammer the bandwidth too much, I'm happy for that to happen as an interim measure.

ah yes, thats neat. although it's an additional site to maintain, which can get quite the work after having youtube, blog, indiedb, several forums and other sites you might write on.
i'd prefer the forum parsing method, i guess the announcements forum would be good enough even.

or could we extend the phpbb to include a [iotd][/iotd] image tag for nomination? maybe have a poll for voting if there's more than one entry...

finally: i know it's already called image of the day, but considering the activity here, we should rather have it image of the week.
