U really gotta click on the pic to see any detail, none of the image hosting sites i can find will host large images. The screenies are actually 1600 x 800.

YouTube really butchered the quality, and squashed it down to 4:3. The reason everyone's name is "Jimbo" in the vid is because I havent managed to get the ApplicationPath thing going. I think at this point it'd be simpler to just write a GUI. Also the explosion looks goofy i know, but its just placeholder art for the time being.

might be cool to have more obstacles, some which block shots, some which block traveling and maybe some mines.

pretty cool though, i'm kinda envious of you getting networking done :P

Img.ie supports files larger than that, for example:

Of course! There will eventually be buildings and whatnot that will block players and shots. There will also be deployables as well. Bear in mind that Tankz is still VERY early in the development cycle. That video was just meant to give a quick idea of what the gameplay looks like. There are still TONS of systems i've yet to add:

-Deployables(turrets/support buildings/etc)
-The Tank Shop (design your own tank - in very deep detail)
-HLSL support, which will enable things like lighting effects, choosing a camo skin for your tank, more projectile FX, etc. (pending my learning of HLSL)
-Line of Sight - You can't see 'em if they're behind that building! (under normal circumstances.. heh heh..) Also smoke will obscure vision, etc.
-Unique armor system (more on that later)
-Close Air Support(CAS) missions/Fire Support missions etc
-More game modes (TDM,Co-op "Combat Sweep", Swarm)

I'm going to try and figure out why YouTube is compressing that video so bad. Looks fine on my hard drive.

IGTHORN: Thanks for that info - I'l look into that site.

In the meantime, thanks for the feedback as well as all your help; I wouldn't be this far along without all the help and advice i've received right here on these boards. :spin

Ah, thats cool. looks like you have a bunch of interesting ideas already.

what kind of tank customizations do you have in mind? modular design?

Pick chassis, pick turret, pick weapons to install in turret. Pick camo.

Within chassis, pick which modules you want to install (shield upgrades/weapon upgrades/scanners/radars/etc etc)
Pick between a selection of a few different basic systems.. (Engines/Capacitors/etc).. more on that later ;)
Also there will be armor customization.. more on that later.

Within turret, pick another module or 2 depending on which turret you pick.

Give your design a name.. voila.. custom tank. All chassis/turrets/guns will have their very own graphics which will of course display in the main game window.

Heh, funny you found that. In an extremely early iteration of the game, I was using that very one (the green tank) as placeholder art. I think I might have a screenshot of that. If I can find it, maybe il post it. The visuals have come quite a long way since then.. but they still have a ways to go.

I'm hoping to post more game media soon, if I can peel myself away from Diablo 3.
