Hi everybody. I would just like to mention that version 1.3.1 of the engine is out. A number of bugs were fixed in this release.

Also, you can find a couple of new tutorials on scrolling and physics using Box2D:

Please check those out if you're a beginner programmer you might be suprised at how easy it is to start making games using AGen. Thanks for your time.

Wow, you really have been keeping this topic up to date huh? I notice with the dates of the topic that this topic is pretty old, but is being updated the whole time :P

I think the engine looks really nice so far. How long have you been working on this? 2 or 3 years?

Hey, thanks Zappy. The first public build was in December of 2007 so ya it's been about 3 years. :) We try to improve and polish the engine and the docs with each release although it always seems like there's a bug or two that need fixing. I post about updates once in a while in hopes of attracting some interest from hobby/indie programmers. :)

dopeman, you still around?

I've been trying to get to 2dengine.com, but apparently I can't get DNS resolution. Everyone else (status checker sites as well as friends I've asked to try) says it's up and everything, but I for the life of me can't get there. Has anything changed recently with your site, maybe? (My ISP has had weird DNS issues before, and I was able to get to your site and download AGen 1.3.7 yesterday morning, but later the site wouldn't come up for me, and still won't a day later...)

I was wanting to join the forum to pick your brain on AGen. :)

Code:
$host 2dengine.com
2dengine.com has address 75.98.171.156
Try whether you can connect by IP address.

Wow, me too. With 2dengine.com, I get the site itself.

It seems access through the DNS layer and without it does make a difference.
Never knew that :)

Apparently that IP is for a hosting company called a2hosting. If I weren't the only one having problems, I would assume that 2dengine.com had gone under...

If the site is on a shared host using name based virtual hosting, you can't get to it by using the server IP address. There will be many sites hiding behind one IP address, the server needs a host name from the http request to be able to direct you to the correct instance. I set GPWiki up on a shared host like that when I first took over, it's a very cost effective way of loads of small sites hosted.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shared_web ... Name-based

2dengine.com works for me BTW.
