Indeed. Your site looks very nice.

(Maybe screenshots that can be shown a bit bigger, is an extra touch? :))

Wow... a visit from the web design fairy. It does look rather nice. As for the content, um... sorry, I don't do much VB. :O

What do think of making scroll-bars another colour (contrasting to black)? And I also see the horizontal scroll-bar (at 800*600) which I suppose I shouldn't (it can slide a little so it isn't of any use). :D

Yeah, I agree with the others' opinion that the site is professionally designed. 8)

We uploaded a new platform game demo. Not really a game, just a demo/test of various engine functions. It would great if a few of you could download the demo and test the frame rate to make sure it's running faster than a crawl. ;) On our machines we get a respectable 20-30 fps. Thanks for the taking the time to check it out.

[Zip & EXE]

The source will be posted on the site soon.

Alot has happened the past few weeks. ;) A total re-design of the engine, hooks for advanced low level DirectX access (check out the "3D in 2D thread"), several tutorials posted. If you're interested in coding a 2D game using VB6, stop by the site, check out the engine. The community is growing, projects are being started. :)

Woah, man! That is so cool! I love your particle systems, I can definitely see some slick games being built on that engine!

Just one thing: the Engine Demo Pack #1, can I just delete it once I've checked it out? Because it doesn't seem to have an uninstall thingy...

With that demo6.zip thing I got this error:
"The DirectX interface could not be initialized"

I'm running with a GeforeceFX 5200, so it should work... shouldn't it?

Hi IGTHORN - Thanks for the nice comments! Yah, you can just delete it. However it should be able to be uninstalled using the Add/Remove programs? You should also remove the dxg*.dll in the system32 folder if you need to manually delete it.

"With that demo6.zip thing I got this error: "The DirectX interface could not be initialized"

I forget what demo6 is?? LOL, sorry. Chances are if you can run the Demo #1 app, then the engine is good to go on your system.

Hey Sion! :)

I greatly appreciate your kind words about the project.

"IN TWENTY DAYS!?!?!? You, my man, are insane!"

The forum users on our site is a small but demanding group. ;) LOL..

The DXGame Engine is a 2D game engine/toolkit for Visual Basic 6 that allows even novice programmers to quickly get a project up and running. Even if you have limited programming experience you will be surprised how easy it is to get results.

Hardware accelerated "2D using 3D" engine. Utilizing the power of DirectX 8 technologies, your games will effortlessly take advantage of modern features like alpha channel, rotation, scaling (x&y), opacity, with minimal to zero performance hit.

For programmers already familiar with "bitblit" or "Directx 7 direct draw", the DXGame Engine is a perfect upgrade path for you to work with.

DemoPack #1 - (2mb)
http://dxgame.com/download/dxgamedemopack1.zip

This demo pack demonstrates 4 different styles of games that can be designed using the DXGame Engine. These are just demos or works in progress and are not full games. The source code to these demos are available in the tutorial download section.

Fireworks Supreme Screensaver - (3mb)
http://dxgame.com/download/dxfireworks.zip

Download the FREE Fireworks Supreme Screensaver designed using the DXGame Engine and the DXGame Engine Screensaver Design Shell. This is a complete installation download. You don't need to download anything else to install and run the screensaver.

The above demos require DirectX 8.1 or higher, a decent 3D card, and the VB6 runtimes already installed.

The DXGame Engine is 100% FREE for freeware projects.

Currently there are over 80 forum users experimenting with the DXGame Engine. Stop by the site sometime, checkout the engine and see for yourself how easy it is to get something up and running. ;)

Wow! Those fireworks look awsome!

I'm tempted to use your engine :P but I'll persevere with my own in the mean time. :)

Just a quick project update:

The DXGame Engine is now 100% free to use in your own shareware/commerical projects. We have removed the licensing model from this project and replaced it with a "donation" model instead. ;)

Stop by the site and interact with the other 180+ forum users experimenting with the DXGame Engine.
