This is the new flash game I created for Yellzbellz.com. It took about 3 weeks and its my first game I created using Flash. I would love to hear what people have to say!

Sky Falcon of WWII

Thanks!

Not bad for a first! Does that 3 weeks include "the time it took to learn Flash / ActionScript"? Or just "the time it took to piece together what I know to get what I want"?

If you're looking for some things you can practice on while improving it:

1. Volume slider / mute.
2. Pixel-based collision detection instead of rectangular.
3. Power-ups.
4. Whatever else you can find that you like from other SHMUPs. :)

I tried it this morning. It's a nice little game, and I love the sounds. :)

Suggestions for gameplay: collision detection is the most important imo. Several times I thought I had moved clear of a bullet, only to have it register as a hit. You could either do a pixel perfect test as said above, or use a better fitting collision rectangle, which might be easier.

Speed felt a little slow for me too. This kind of game is more fun when things happen a bit faster.

Lastly, consider animating the graphics of the plane when climbing or diving.

But overall, it's better than most flash games I've played. ;)

Wow, I apologize for not responding sooner, I never got notified of responses.

I really, really appreciate you guys trying the game and giving the feedback. The 3 weeks was learning the IDE of Flash and putting the game together, including making the models and creating the images. I wasnt aware of a pixel collision test and I agree, that would be much better than the box collision tests. I will definitely look into it.

I dont really now what animations I could incorporate in moving the plane up or down other than changing the plane pose, but any suggestions would be great!

Again thank you for the input and for trying out the game! One of the best parts of Developement is seeing how people react to what you make!

Thank you!

I was thinking of maybe 1 or 2 intermediate frames. Just to give a sense of the roll.

Are you supposed to fly at the same level all the time? Arrows do not seems to work, using FF 3.5.7
