Hello there I am Peepshow (as you can tell from the profile thingy) and I consider myself a game designer. However, being able to think about how to design games doesn't get them made so I need programmers and the like. I have tried programming myself but after many, many hours of failure and frustration I gave up (My lack of programming skill/knowledge caused me to fail my higher computing exam). I tried my hand at 2D and 3D graphics making and also failed in a equally spectacular fashion. OK I think I have got my point across now so back to the pitch.
Design for my first project has been going on for around 2 and a half weeks (Mostly brainstorming). The short version is it is a free roaming top down zombie survival game with a story mode and sandbox mode. I won't go into to much detail but here is a list of hoped for features.

. RPG stats e.g strength, firearms skill
. Need sleep, food, water e.c.t
. Customisable HQ and vehicles
. Supply system (Vehicles need petrol so you have to secure a petrol station for it.)
. Other survivors to man your base, safehouse's, join you on raids.
. Research and Manufacture
. Rival groups, insane survivors, army clean up squads
. Sandbox mode
. Territory system
. Online Multiplayer! (As if I wasn't making things to hard for myself already.)
. 3D (Doubt it but just imagine)
. Regular updates to add new features, weapons, unlock more areas of the city and countryside.

I will admit right now that I am aiming extremely high and to even expect half of these ideas would be unrealistic. I would post some drawings and design ideas I've came up with but I can't get my dam scanner to work. If anyone is interested in helping me just get in contact (Preferably through this thread or a PM, if this board has the system, since I almost never check my E-Mail) and I will set up a forum or wiki to start development.

Game development currently is only for the crazy dedicated hardcore people who will break whatever barrier they must to achieve their dreams. Extreme hard work and will, general people dont have such attributes. And if your looking in the wrong places with the wrong mindset youll never get anywhere. You have to become very technical and get in the right mindset for whatever your working on. If your learning programming pretend your a god programmer and soon you will be. Same for any other thing.

Soon someday making games will be very easy, you will think of a game and the game would just appear and work through Psychokinesis powers. I hope that day isnt far away.
