If you are an intermediate programmer interested in taking part in developing an online game (and the engine to go with it), I have a project you may be interested in. I am looking for a small group who I can "take under my wing" and teach what I know while providing a chance to help develop an online game and engine.

This is intended as an educational experience, not just getting people together to make a game - the game part is just a bonus. I want to help people understand what it is like to work on a large group project and using tools you may otherwise not use (ie unit testing and version control).

I have written up a big article on the purpose of this project, who I am looking for, what they can expect to get out of it. If you are still interested, please check it out.

Well thanks for showing interest anyways. :) If you are still interested in the future when some time frees up, feel free to apply.

I have been received quite a few applications already - more than I expected - which is great to see. There has been a few individuals who have approached me, asking if they could join even though they can't afford spending that much time on it. One of them, for example, is a full-time CS student with a part time job. In cases like these, where someone can't afford the time since they are already busy with CS-related work, but are still really interested in joining, I have been making exceptions (especially with people I already know, like yourself). The main purpose of this project is learning, not getting people to help me with my programming. The time requirement is mostly there to show that I only want people who are serious about learning programming and development, and will not just get bored of the project after a week.

So if you, workmad3, or any of you other frequent GPWiki-ers are interested, decent in programming (that is, do not need help learning the C# language itself), but do not have the time, feel free to still apply. Just be sure to let me know who you are (your GPWiki alias) and how much time you think you could afford.

Heh :) Well, part of the reason for not having time is because I work full time programming, so I guess that helps :P

I may apply, although it may be a couple of weeks (in order to see what my schedule ends up like)

Thanks Bryk. :)

And sounds good, workmad3. Everyone is free to apply at any time. As long as that page exists, I'll still be accepting applications. I should probably add that to the site. ;)
