I am currently working on a Zelda game and it would really help if I had an artist so that I wouldn't have to create all the art by myself. So anyway the game is called The Legend of Zelda: Light and Shadow and basically it's gonna be a Fable-like Zelda game (you can become dark link, light link, or anything inbetween depending on choices you make). If anyone is interesed i need everything from sprites to storyboard images (I will not be using video for my game so the story will be told through images and text). The game will probably not be sold or even put online for free download unless it is legal to post a game made with a demo version of blitzmax (game programming engine) or if I decide to just buy the full version of blitzmax. However, anyone who contributes will receive a copy of the finished game through email or any other way possible. Even though I cannot pay or give any benefits to those who contribute, I am still very picky as to how the art looks :eek (crazy right?). If you don't feel like giving art (awwwww... :( sad face) maybe you could post a link to some good free zelda art that I could use :). Anyway if you are interested or have any questions email me at CTShyGuy1721@Gmail.com and if you are wondering I do check my email almost everyday.

You do realize what you're planning is a violation of IP, right, even if you're not planning on selling it?

Machaira is right, maybe you should say Zelda influenced game or zelda gameplay like game...etc...*shrug*

BUT usually most projects that are violating IPs usually go unnoticed unless they get a lot of buzz.

Why is no one ever willing to pay an artist for work? Artists gotta eat too, y'know.

Because everyone knows that art isn't real work, and the only reason people don't do it themselves is because they don't have time (and not, as some scandalous rumours may suggest, because other people suck at drawing things) :P

I'll be the first to admit that I suck at drawing things. That's why I paid Clint for the work he did on my first book. :)

It is not like the programmers are getting any money.

True, but on the other hand, if I were wanting someone to program a game for me that I was doing art for, I would be insane to expect people to clamor at the opportunity to do it for free.

Depending on the game I'd do it for a share of the profits. :)

If they had everything else (art, sfx, music) done already I might do the game for free (assuming they are giving the game away for free).

Maybe I should clarify: Whether you want your game's art done for you, or its code done for you, for free, you shouldn't set your expectations too high that someone qualified will want to work with you. I know there are exceptions, but the general rule seems to be that most people will want *something* in exchange for the hard work involved in either case.

But then again, I may be spoiled - I've been paid for doing art for freeware games.
