Hi,

A friend and I are working on a 2D RPG, for PCs. It will be in the style of Zelda, but don't worry - it won't feel like a Zelda clone in any way. We've planned out probably about 75% of the game, including the storyline, plot twist(s), basic game roadmap, etc.

Anyways, I'm just using this thread to post screenshots, updates (when we get a playable build worth crap) of the game - which is currently unnamed, but the main characters name is Zak LeRoi, hence the subject^^

First off: I've been working on a Notes page, for the user to take notes, record quests, and the like. I'm really quite pleased with how it's turned out:

Howdy Linc!

Just an FYI -- I moved this topic to our Announcements section, as it really doesn't belong in our Game Media section (where I found this topic originally).

Anyway, keep us updated! :)

Ah, thanks. My bad :) Don't worry, I'll post often, probably at the same frequency I post on our company's blog: http://play-dd-games.blogspot.com/

An actual journal for the player to write in - nice!

Good luck with the project, and welcome to the forums.

Welcome. Screenshots are always good. It's about time we had a new featured image.

Yeah, we're hoping to have little things like this journal that set this game apart from any old 2D RPG :) Anyways, we formed a company - DD Gaming. If this project interests you, follow our blog: http://play-dd-games.blogspot.com/ , which is where we'll to post screenshots, plot summaries, and similar little tidbits.

Currently I'm working on coding the inventory system - I made this mockup:

What do you think? I'm trying to make the inventory mouse-based. Do you prefer that to keyboard based control, with the arrow keys?

Yes.

That doesn't look like it will cover everything though. What's the one equipped box for? Why only 4 armor boxes? Is 18 items all the character can carry?

You'll have Armor Presets - armor will be fairly generic, and you can fuse it with other items to make fire-resistant, ice-resistant, etc. Generic Armor, i.e. blank armor, is basically useless. And there's only four slots because this is just a mockup, there will most likely be more slots in the actual thing, like 8 or so.

Thanks for your input, good to know mouse-based is preferred.

Since my partner and I came up with a name for this game, there's a new topic for....The Lost Keys of Alraith. Swing on over to viewtopic.php?f=9&t=11496 to follow the project, if you like.
