I would have made the featured image 50% bigger, put the other three boxes all in one column on the right (posts/news/wiki), and have a banner ad at the bottom of the featured image, rather than at the side.

I'm not totally keen on the design of the boxes. when there was just one it was okay, but with 5 of them it looks like there's too many lines, especially with all the hyperlinks with lines under them. Consider removing lines below hyperlinks, using paler colours for the box borders, and light gray for box interior, to create less contrast.

I feel that full date & time is too verbose for a front page. It would be better to say things like "1 hour ago" or "2 days ago".

The font size is too big as well. It's one/two sizes bigger than the text in the forums/wiki, which I feel puts the website out of sync with itself.

I have had some more style ideas for the page while working on it, but in the interest of actually delivering a working page, I put them on the backburner to be sorted out for v2.0.

Removing the underlining on links is an easy win, will see how it looks later.

I like the 1 hour ago, 2 hours ago idea. Not too hard to implement either.

Ads are a pain. They're a necessary evil to pay for the new server, but often look terrible. The original layout was a skyscraper each side and a link box at the bottom. I dropped one of the skyscrapers as it was beginning to look like an old skool warez page. I'd like to keep two ads as it helps keep the impression numbers up, but may tinker with the layout.

The font sizes went a bit screwy when my stylesheet definitions started to get out of control. I'll sort those out later.

The featured image box is just a placeholder for now. The featured image pages are currently static are still being re-written to run off the DB, so that box will change. Having an image in the flow does cause problems, maybe changing to a 1-3 layout will help.

Still working on the times and I haven't really touched the layout, but the colour scheme and general match to the rest of the board seems better.
