Hi,

I have been working on a game for almost a year, it's still work in progress but I'd like to know how much other game programmers like it.

Here are some links to pages where you find information about my game.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xP4N1nOagc8 - newest video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-k0cW4LygU - old video
http://www.warriorworld.eu <- here you find details

I call it WarriorWorld, I always wanted to build my own MMORPG, and especially somewhere playable from your browser and now I feel ready for it. MMO's are very complex pieces of software so there's a logical chance that I won't be able to finish it.

Game development was my number one hobby when I was a kid and still is. After lots of hesitation I decided that game programming is my most favorite field in the development.

My favorite moments while building this game was making the the possibility to have your personal invertory with items that compute by my own made mini scripting language. The other one was where you can create different game levels and getting the proximity areas to work.

I try my very best to make sure that I can make any type of 2-dimensional MMO I want by using my software. Whether it's a game like World of Warcraft or a Texas or sci-fi or modern times game is up to me, and I make sure that the game works accurately.

Anyway, I hope that you programmers out there will like it, so far this has been my greatest work of all time. Remember that I don't aim to finish this game or to make money with it, so please don't criticize it on a professional level, because it is not.

Thanks! :spin

Good luck with making an MMO!

This is one type of game I've never imagined trying to create. I hope it works out for you. :)

I made a MMO before. I don't plan on doing it anytime soon again!

The problem isn't making the game itself, thats the easy part :P
Adding features and items and bonuses that satisfy people, that cause them to play your game is the real pain.

Seriously if people play those games, they almost always rate it on a professional level. You get people like "What!? Only 50 items! RuneScape has atleast 200! This game stinks!", or something like "What? Only 2 classes? Nobody can play like that, need atleast 4.". That is where the pain of a MMO starts comming into place.

Overall its an interesting experience and I hope you will be able to complete your game.

Thanks, but I hoped that they won't rate my game professionally on this forum.

Why not?

Mainly because none of us here are professionals. :)

Of course, we did have a couple here, but for the past year or more this forum has been a ghost town.

That's cool, I hope I will get along well with everyone here :)

If anyone is curious about my project and likes to ask some questions I'd gladly answer them for you.

Next week I will start working on kind of a sub project: WarriorEngine.
It will be a tool to edit the game world with, among quests, npc's and functions for certain intelligent objects, AND environment effects such as rain or sun beams, etcetera.

The program will be made in Adobe Flash. Meaning a developer can log into my website and open it up and continue his work all across the world.

This will be a difficult quest, so I need a lot of luck.
When this is finished I am confident that making game worlds IN my game will be alot more faster, fun and prettier. Making a map in my game at the moment can take up to 40 minutes :( .

If anyone has suggestions or cools idea's I'd gladly hear them out, althought I don't think that anyone has interest for my game.

So why would I be doing this at all? Because it's fun, a lot of fun to spend my spare time with.
Is it possible to do and finish this? Yes I actully think so, there are a lot of other crazy things I have tried to make and succeeded.
Do I make money by this? No.

Sounds like a good project :)

I've always found it difficult to decide when it would be better to build an editor for whatever I'm working on, or when I would actually save more time just coding things by hand. Fun stuff, for sure.

I'd say when you can't live without it, like I do :spin
