I really don't get it. Why people keep calling other people to make the games themselves wanna to make?
Why is easy to understand imho.
Game programming needs a blend of several skills. You need programmers, someone with a vision, a number of graphics artists, and if you are really big, level designers.
For me personally, I can do the first two well, the other ones, well, I am less than very bad, I am afraid :)
So, if I wanted to make a game (while focussing on the end product), I can do three things: 1. Learn those skills too, 2. Ask around and find a few other people, 3. Start myself, and see what happens.
1 takes years before I can start (not good to make an end product). 3 doesn't seem like a good plan (if focussing on the end product), you may get stranded halfway in the design. So 2 remains, and you start posting advertorials.
(As some people know here, in reality, I am currently doing 3, and am having a great time doing it :D )
What the OP underestimates however is the difficulty of "find a few other people". Other people are equally willing to switch to the project of the OP as the OP is willing to switch to someone else his project.
@TrickingBlaze:
Ask yourself the question, why would people that "make the magic happen" want to spend time on your project (do you really think they have no clue what to do, and are all waiting for you to post an advertorial?) Why do you think you can decide things as fundamental as the programming language for them? ("I have little-no experience with Game Programming in Java") Why would they allow you to control the money? ("I might start making minimum wage payments").
As you can see in the reactions in this thread, what you do is common in game programming land. There are lots of people that believe they can make great games, even though they have never ever done anything in this area.
Guess what, it doesn't work this way.
You have to show that you are different and understand what you are saying.
In my opinion, the best way to do that is to start working in some other project. Developing some programming skills never hurts either.
Oh, and I just hate Java, I have programmed it for around a year or so, and I have never seen such a bloaty language, yuck!
