Hello everyone! I would like to make a game, (Just a small one) but I'm new to programming. I have no idea where to start or what programs to use, I have been reading your ''How to get started'' but I didnt quite understand everything there. I'm trying to figure out what programs and game engine to use, and where to start. Do you have any suggestions? I would like to use free programs, so if you could link me any, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the answers, and sorry for not telling you about the game itself. I was thinking about a 3D First person or 3rd person shooter (Mostly a First person).

Well, that depends on the type of game, what are your needs, on what platform should it run, is the speed important, 2D or 3D? There is much more to it than just a simgle language.

If this is your first language, and you want to make a game, I suggest something that is not quite as...programmy...

I suggest
C#, along with the XNA plugin.
If thats to hard, try something simpler, like Game Maker.

I would suggest more stuff, but is it possible to explain what kind of game you want to make? It would be much easier to list programs to use that way.
