I think we should start trying to make good use of the Meta Wiki's nice features, like Templates.

For example, pages like engines or languages could have nice infoboxes on them with general info about the topic, like this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C++

Thing on the right.

And some pages lack catagories and stuff.

I've been meaning to re-jig the OpenGL framework pages for a while (and write some new stuff/bugfix too), this seems like an ideal opportunity. However, being a template biff, I have no idea how I should fit my changes into the grand wiki re-org plan.
I've started by giving the framework an intro page with a tutorial list, before I get too carried away, is there anything I should consider?

Hm, just make sure it's under the right namespaces.

Template:OpenGL:FrameworkTutorial
Template:OpenGL:FrameworkTutorial:Start
Template:OpenGL:FrameworkTutorial:Another1
Template:OpenGL:FrameworkTutorial:Turkey

IIRC. :O

OK, I've converted the OpenGL page into template format. It still links into the Tutorials and Source Code page except that the link is to the 'About' page rather than a separate tut list.

Still not sure about the namespaces for the tut framework though. Will take a look over the weekend.

Hi, I just stumbled onto the GPWiki and I like the idea of wiki's for sharing knowledge, so I would be willing to help with developing the wiki. My 'speciality' is java, though I am hardly an expert as I have only been learning it for a year.

Is there any sort of organised format for posting to the wiki, or is this what this thread is discussing?[/i]

Hello Ben; welcome to GPWiki :)

There are many ways you can help out, if you're interested. Take a look at our "Pages Wanted" list:

http://gpwiki.org/index.php/Pages_Wanted

Is there anything there you feel qualified to tackle? If so, please write a tutorial and link it from the appropriate tutorial listing page!

Or, you can always help by cleaning things up and making things more navigable (ie. Adding category tags to pages, creating templates where needed, etc.)

If you're in doubt about whether or not something needs to be done, just ask! Everyone here will be happy to give you advice, I'm sure :)

Thanks!
