Hi guys,

I'm wondering what are the best colleges and universities for learning game programming/development ? I google searched and found a bunch but I cannot tell which one(s) is/are the best or most prestigious, whether by industrial standard or by academic standard. Any ideas ? Thanks.

I think it'll depend on which country you are in or which countries you are entitled to study in.

If you are looking at the time and money investment of college or university level courses I'd be very wary of online courses. Perhaps visit local institutions in person and have a look at the types of work they are doing.

My degree is in Archaeology rather than anything to do with software or game development. But I have visited a number game development schools in a professional capacity and you can get a good idea of the type of work they are doing and the quality.

Game development companies are more interested in your experience rather than your academic history. So if you want to get into the game dev industry, you'll need to show people what you can do.

I would suggest that you start by creating games yourself, and make sure that you also like playing games. That will help a lot!

Careful; necro-threading with a URL as your username will get you banned real quick. I'm giving you a warning, and not banning you outright, since I'm pretty sure you're not a bot.

If you have any constructive topics to bring up, do so; but don't necro ancient threads without very good reason.
