Can anyone point me in the right direction to get started coding games using Flex 4 and FlashDevelop 4? The FlashDevelop site didn't look like it had any good tutorials. I guess I need to learn AS3 also.

Thanks for your help....

Okay, I have FlashDevelop 4 all installed and setup. It automatically installs Flex 4 SDK for you, really cool. And I was able to get an AS3 project created and load in a jpg file. Awesome!
I have also determine that what I needed next was a tutorial, book, or video on AS3. So, on Safari I found this two volume video series called "Colin Moock's Lost ActionScript 3.0 Weekend Course 1 and 2". So I am watching course 1 right now!

If anyone has further suggestions, please post!

If you are looking for standard rendering (i.e. using Flash-specific drawing style), I've found that the only book I needed was "Foundation ActionScript 3.0 Animation" by Keith Peters. While not specifically a "learn ActionScript" book, it does have primer chapters... and the code through the rest of the book is actually pretty darn useful. :)

If you want a book that focuses on using AS3 for more traditional-style rendering, I recall stumbling upon a tutorial that walks you through just that (and you end up with a vertical shoot-em-up, along the lines of the old "1942" arcade game). The tutorial is on BrightHub somewhere, and I don't recall the title. Try a quick Googling for "brighthub actionscript game tutorial", or something along those lines.

(BTW -- eJar from the JHarbour.com forums says 'hi'. ;) )

Think I found it: http://www.brighthub.com/internet/web-d ... 11010.aspx

Haha, yeah I knew that was you, thanks for the input. I will check them out after I finish the Lost Weekend videos. They are very good.

Also, Safari sent me a response saying that Jacob's book will be in their library sometime next month. Sweet!
