The East Coast Game Conference is relatively cheap. Went to the last one and there was a lot of good info. Not nearly as big as GDC, but for 1/4 of the price... :)

I was over there, but not for the GDC. The whole city was full of game developers. Quite funny to me walking into a bar and instead of everyone talking about the sporting teams, they are talking about polygon counts.
