I'm surprised I haven't seen much discussion of Chris Robert's return to game development on this forum. Any Wing Commander fans excited to see his return? Do you think he's likely to be successful with such lofty goals?

I was never a big fan of the Wing Commander series. I did play one of them briefly, but I was looking for an Elite type game and it didn't really hit the spot.
However, it's nice to see a big name from the past coming back. I just hope it's not a front to bump up sales.

His pitch video is really nice, he shows a bunch of ingame footage and explains how dogfight works in detail and what consequences it has (somewhat realistic damage model). I like that guy and how he adresses the whole console issue and it's tendency to halt innovation more than drive it.

I'm really looking forward to it. I'm a sucker for space games, too bad there haven't been any good ones lately

Looks really good, but also seems a bit too ambitious in scope. Hopefully they can deliver everything they are promising. Although I will probably buy it even without half of what they are planning.
