Just to let you guys know (the ones who care, anyway... you know who you are ;) ), I've been scarce -- and will continue to be so for a while -- because I am in the process of moving into an apartment in town. As far as plans are concerned, I'll be getting moved in the first week of October. I'll FINALLY have decent Internet access (even if I have to use the library's wi-fi... but it's just next door to the apartment complex), and I'll be within short walking distance of a grocery store, the library, convenience stores, restaurants, discount stores, banks, recreational sites, even a furniture outlet. If I'm feeling frisky, I could even try walking to my doctor's office for my next appointment (though I imagine I'll have to get into shape to make it all the way there :) ).

I don't have a vehicle, and loathe driving anyway, so it will be good to live in a place where the most exciting place I can walk to is NOT the end of the driveway. :rolleyes

Gratz! Make sure you sing the Jefferson's theme song while you're moving. :)

Good stuff, Clint. Good luck with the move. I find moving itself is pretty tedious work but after a few days of settling in it's actually nice to have a change of space as you start to make yourself at home. Remember to maintain a steady intake of fluids during the first 72 hours of exposure to fast internet ;)

But my dee-lux apartment isn't in the sky! ;)

Fortunately, I don't have much to move, at least in the way of very large/very heavy objects. Other than my mattress, and maybe my drafting table, anyways. :)

Celebrating solitude and a decent environment to wonder in bliss and speculate in peace. Right?

Solitude? Doubt there will be a whole lot of that going on, considering that when I need something, I have to go out and hoof it. :)

I'm also rather fond of games (not video games so much anymore, but board/card/dice/strategy/RPG/party games), and they are a bit boring only playing them solitaire. It may be hard to convince many people to try some of the hardcore games (a la MtG and D&D), but I know that cards and dominoes are pretty popular around these parts.

The only downside is that when I leave the apartment complex to go out any distance at all, I have to be armed. :P

Ha, you had me worried when I read "I'm moving on" --- I thought I might be about to read a good bye message. Glad to hear you'll have decent Internet.

Well, today was supposed to be moving day, but things this week have been weird (apparently all the entities I'm dealing with in the process of moving decided to change how they do everything this month, and left me to my own devices to whip things into shape :rolleyes ), so I won't be moving out until Monday (and hopefully that date will stick!). So, this will probably be the last time you hear much out of me for a month or so, because...

I will once I have time to recover financially. After all the down-payments, deposits, fees, and so on, I'm basically tapped out until, at the very earliest, November. Even then I will have to shell out at least a couple hundred to pay bills, so I'm not willing to guarantee I'll have reliable service until December or possibly later. As it stands right now, I'll be surviving on ramen (maybe beans and rice if I can scrape together enough quarters) for a month or two. And I still have a lot of other expenses -- I don't even have towels, yet. I needs the towels! :P

Hope it goes smoothly. Always remember where your towel is.

Hola Amigos,

Just wanted to check in with you guys to let you know that the move has been a really good experience. I'm still mostly getting things in order, but I'm hoping I'll have good Internet within a couple weeks. (Right now I'm visiting my parents for a bit, so I'm still on dial-up for now. :P)

I'll holler at y'all soon. Take care everybody!

Have been on 12Mbps DSL service for a couple weeks now. Downloading 2GB worth of data in 15-20 minutes for the first time is quite the experience.

Also managed to get a new work computer. Toshiba Satellite P755: 15.6" LED. Intel Core i7. 6GB DDR3. 750GB. Dedicated Nvidia graphics processer with 1GB memory.

Only thing I need now is some free time to play with it. :P

Great news. :thumbs

Enjoy the speed boost. You'll soon be yelling at the computer for being too slow at downloading stuff. :P

More likely, you'll run out of free disk space :p

Right now I'm yelling at the computer for stalling downloads at 40-60 MB (which takes about a minute or less). I can pause and resume in Firefox to finish the download, but programs without such facilitiee (i.e. Eclipse/Android SDK Manager) just timeout and give up. >:(

Sounds good! The jump from dial-up to 12Mbps must have been awesome.
