It's now actually available, here's the repo on GitHub. From a quick poke around it seems very similar to the older formerly commercial versions, and the choice of MIT licencing means it's really free. They've also provided some good documentation with it.

I think this is a great contribution to the open source world, hopefully we'll see some great products built with it. :)

Just spent a half hour browsing the site and looking through the docs. Seems like a really slick set up.
I've never really used a complete engine framework like that, but I'm tempted to give it a try.

Yeah, it might entice some programmers that prefer to go lower level (instead of UDK/Unity/so on) to use it.

Yet, I wonder... if they are on time and this was just a necessary step which should have been done a while ago?
