we just had an extremely hot muggy day yesterday and i got curious; whats the weather like in your part of the world?

Right now in southern Michigan its high summer and almost 90° and very humid. its been raining off and on for the last couple of weeks, which is exactly opposite from last year at this time when it was a drought and everything was all brown and dying. We've had some really good days where its high 70's and a light breeze and big puffy clouds in the sky, perfect for just lazing around outside. On the bad days its been either storming or so hot and humid you can hardly breathe. So far its been more good than bad, even with the rain.

whats your weather?

Kinda coldish at night, kinda warm in the day, nothing too extreme right now, it rains from time to time, not too often :D

UK is stupidly hot at the moment. It's been over 30°C (86°F) for a week or so now.
We moved house at the weekend and I sweated buckets while shifting our stuff. I also started a new job this week and there's no AirCon in the new office. :x

The forecast is for cooler weather towards the end of the week, can't wait.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Where I'm from, 30°C != "stupidly hot", rather it's "Mild".

Over here during summer, we typically have a few days to a week of 42°C (107°F) or so. It's so hot you can't think of a proper name for it. "Hot as hell" perhaps? On top of that, they measure the temperature 1m off the ground under shade; on a 42 degree day, it's more like 50-55 degrees in the sun. You can only imagine the temperature of black asphalt on those days.

As for right now, well we are starting to come out of winter. It's still chilly, but not too bad. The forecast for today is 19 degrees, but we got down to 9 last night. It was colder about a month ago (3-4 degrees at night). I guess compared to some other areas of the world, it's still pretty warm, considering we are still above zero most of the time.

While our "actual" temperature, for the past month or so, has tended to be in the mid-/upper-90s (35C to 38C)... our heat index (which factors sunlight and humidity into account) has stayed consistently at 105F+ (over 40C).

86F is considered "pleasant" round these parts.

They've been promising us heavy rainstorms for at least two months... but during that entire time, we've had three showers, and they've only lasted about 10-20 minutes each. We need rain and/or better weather forecasts!

It must be the humidity. I don't know what it is here as its not something that gets reported. However, I spent a few months in Afghanistan earlier in the year, where it was much hotter than the current UK climate and I felt fine. I guess there's something in the air, and it's not conditioning.

You can easily look that up online. Maybe bookmark the link... Location Wilts? :)

http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/weather/ ... RT=feuchte

The weather widget on my toolbar tells me relative humidity here (68% atm) as well as wind and dew points. I'm sure there'll be apps you can get for your phone too.
Remember that relative humidity can be quite different indoors, and depends on lots of factors, so the figure given in the weather reports is only part of the equation.

Probably the lack of humidity. Dry heat is a lot more bearable than humid heat. As they say, "it's not the heat... *pant pant* it's the humidity!!!"

Looks like I need to change my weather report. I normally use the BBC one.

Heh, also from southern (southeastern, really) Michigan.

Yeah, this summer's been pretty good, but the past week in particular has been absolute hell for me. This heat and humidity is awful. My university sent out a heat advisory warning :(
