Well, for those who are bored, here is a nice (cropped) screenshot from an old project of mine I maintained when I was 12-13 years old:

Image

Details:
> the two gray circles represent the cross-hair for the assault rifle, though this is a cropped image. I wanted to hide the ugly gun sprite; it was just too hideous. I also cropped out the rest of the HUD, though it wasn't that bad. Unfortunately I do not have any record/backup for the latest versions of this project to the latest date before it was lost. Otherwise, the gun would be decent enough to show. I recall having implemented some very rudimentary lighting as well, but the greatest feature missing is the arena AI-bot guys (actual gameplay). :thumbs
> the glowing thing is a "gravity lift," (just a futuristic spring/elevator) which functions similar to those in Halo 3. Behind the camera there is a ledge which requires this gravity lift to jump onto.

Just for credit, I made the textures and art myself. :D By the way, I'm actually working on a large texture package that will be released for my art topic soon. So... any comments? Feel free to bash it, or rather congratulate my excellence. Does the administration have any interest in featuring this image on the home page? That might be pretty cool!

Cheerios.

That gravity lift looks awesome! Really makes me want to run over it and get launched.

When you say it's lost, don't you have the source anymore? I've kept pretty much everything I coded, even back when I was a young nooblet. Gotta say, you were making more impressive stuff than I was at age 13 ;)

Codehead is probably going to be pre-occupied for a while, so don't feel too bad if he doesn't respond immediately re: featured image :P

I don't have the latest version I did, v0.6, which was significantly better than the v0.3 crap featured in this screenshot. There's a great difference in quality and features between every incremental version I did. v0.3 is featured in this screenshot here, which is the only version I shared on the internet.

Yet, some 13 year olds just don't know how make any decent counter-measures against malware! I was using Game Maker 6.1 for this project. There's some good "decompilers" for Game Maker, so I was able to reobtain the Game Maker project for v0.3. Sometimes I mess with it for fun.

Have you ever seen the first Unreal1 '95 Beta? It's almost the same. You should have just continued ;).

Cannot find anything moving though. Even Youtube has just a still. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ED7eCGfxYc

Unreal and Halo:CE were precisely my inspirations for this project, and still are massive influences on me (both aesthetics and gameplay). This game was titled "Algorithm," after the way I viewed how mastery of a game writes winning behavior into your intuition, like an algorithm that is unexplainable to anyone who hasn't played the game as much as you have; a very personal and tasteful accumulation of experience.

Unreal [Tournament] is for me an all time classic. Without Unreal I probably wouldn't have been working on the things I do now, as it was an Unreal engine game that was my primary job.

I still really love the atmosphere of Unreal1, especially the music made it so awesome. Someday I hope that there will be an game just as atmospheric as U1.
