I've had a quick tinker with ICS and came to the same conclusion. Very nice, but the emulator really needs an upgrade.

The new GUI look and feel will take some getting used to, but the APIs are becoming very nice. If the manufacturers can just stop fiddling and adding in proprietary chunks, the whole Android ecosystem will benefit.
