I've never been a fan of Motorola hardware (had a MicroTac in the early 90s, yuk!), but the patent portfolio is very impressive.

I'm still looking to HTC for my next phone, but I think Android took a soild step forward today.

Microsoft XNA MVP

Heard about this just the other day, and it's mind boggling! What does google know about the semiconductor industry? Good grief! I can see leveraging the market, making sure Motorola doesn't do anything weird to mess with future CPU releases, but 12 billion?

They didn't buy the semiconductor division, just their mobility division. (Although that may include mobile-device semiconductors?)

There are rumblings that Google may let the mobile division go and just keep the patents. That would probably keep the HTC, Samsung and Sony happy while helping to protect Android from Apple and Microsoft's lawsuit hit squads.
