Say, does anyone know some good programs for making sound loops? I am currently using Psycle which is pretty good but complex too. I don't mean something like Audocity though, because that is sound EDITING and not sound GENERATION. A midi generator (that can export to other formats though) would be helpful.

I don't want links to audio though either. I like to be able to create my own loops for background sound that can sound exactly as I wanted.

Any help is appreciated.

I think you mean Audacity. :P

What about Fruity Loops?

Are we talking music generation, like a midi sequencer, with the feature that we can introduce a loopback point, at some point causing it to play in an infinite loop?

Also, are we talking:

a block sequencer (mixes blocks of prerecorded riffs), or

a midi sequencer (midi instruments, programmed note by note), or

a full blown sample based music sequencer (sampled instruments, programmed note by note)?

I'm thinking something along the lines of a midi sequencer. However, anything that can make good quality audio without taking years to learn would be good with me.

The most important thing I need is that the program is *FREE*!
