Ok well, im trying to make a character which can move in 8 directions.

North, North East, East, ect

What do you guys think of this.

I havent Shaded, or added in detail, but do the body parts all seem to be correct and in scale for how a human frame should be?

Looking good. The only thing I might toy with would be trying to move the background leg up a bit in the angled sprites... at that angle, the background leg looks longer than the other leg. Should be easy to fix (just move the foot in the background up a pixel or two).

Other than that, it looks fine. :)

Ok i added in 2 more directions. What do you think?

(Acctally its more like just 1 direction, then i copied it and flipped it, and just like that i made 2 at once :D)

does his crouch look like it needs to be 'Increased' down a little ?

Looks great to me in terms of proportion and viewing aspect. His belt seems a wee bit too high, though, unless this takes place in the 70's. :P

1070's maybe, but not the 1970's, hehe...

I moved his belt down a pixel.

I lowered his legs and crouch a bit also.

Ok i think im finshed with the standing still model.

Now to tackle movement.

Didnt get done movement yet. Took a break from last night.

I wanted to make sure my character would look good with my iso tiles, so i put him up against wall to see what he would look like.

Looks pretty good to me, what does everyone else think?

I also raised / lowered his belt. Looks better now i think.

You guys take a look and tell me what you think.

Nice. Only problem I foresee is setting up all the frames for different kinds of "equipable" items, if you choose to go that way.

Well

There will a defaulted naked "Clean" versions of both male and female characters, with diffrent skin colors and head types.

After that i draw the armor / helmets / gloves / boots as seprate gfx.

Then when i draw the character, i draw the naked version, and then whatever armor / parts hes wearing.

The same goes for the weapons, sept with the weapons i have to draw up diffrent animations for weapons and shields and such...

Any objections to this? Other then its gonna take alot of gfx....

So why don't you model a thing in a 3d program, and render it very small, and then upscale it (batch) to get the same result but extremely less time taking? :)

maybe he's true to the pixel art ;) or maybe, it's because the fact that it is very hard getting something to look pixeldrawn with a 3d program

if you ask me i'd say that it is easier to do 3d than 2d (art wise that is)
