Is it possible to make a bitmap which can be read into XNA? And how? Google turned up a blank.

sure is.

for Tankz I use ttf2bmp.exe

it's an actual microsoft release.

it takes any font on your system and turns it into a bitmapped font. I dont have the actual link to download, but search the internet/MSDN for ttf2bmp.exe
you should find it. it comes as a C# project file, uncompiled. doesnt matter tho, still works fine. good luck!

Theres instructions on the site, and tutorials somewhere i think for the actual process of importing it into your game as a SpriteFont.
