I was experimenting with various BASIC languages that have gaming engines, or at least rendering engines. It's amazing how many of them there are.

Blitz is still around but I found the syntax extremely odd (http://www.blitzbasic.com)

MiniBASIC has a DX engine, OOP based which is a plus (http://www.codercreations.com) and some basic physics. Overall I liked the syntax.

PureBASIC uses Ogre (http://www.purebasic.com) but it's a bit unweildy when designing a GUI, and not a very friendly place.

What have you tried in the BASIC-like arena? Any favorites?

Welcome Xenia.

I was doing some housekeeping in the wiki today and saw a bunch of BASIC languages that I didn't know about.

FreeBASIC, LibertyBASIC, JustBASIC, DarkBASIC, Emergence BASIC, the list goes on and on. It seems the language will always be with us.

I haven't used BASIC seriously since I spent my days toiling in front of AMOS on the Amiga, but I was intrigued to hear about QB64 the other day. I tinkered with QBASIC in my early PC days, it'd be nice to see what new features are on offer. I just need to find the time to take a look. :\
