I'm considering changing the rendering based on the platform. Something like this for mobile devices and something better for PC/Xbox 360 (Diablo style?). The alternative would be top-down for all platforms. What say you?

The gameplay and graphics may feel quite different if toggled from overhead to isometric. Would players readily identify it as the same game? Or consider it to be a similar game?

I think it would be better to focus on one style. A cut down mobile version of the game can be an optional follow on project, based on how the original is received. Perhaps game speed needs to be reduced and the FOV made narrower in accordance with the lower resolution and size screen of the mobile device? If so, the entire game may need to be rebalanced/reconsidered on the mobile platform.

I would imagine it would be viewed the same as any port to a mobile device.

There's a chance to capitalize on the release of Phone7 though, which I'd love to do.

Is that a greater or lesser priority than releasing the game on 360, and would it have to be released on both platforms simultaneously?

I haven't really decided at this point if a Phone7 version is priority, but it's certainly a great opportunity that I'd hate to miss. It wouldn't have to be released on multiple platforms at the same time, but that would also be nice. I'm waiting (impatiently) for more info on Phone7 development though.
