Why? Why shouldn't someone be able to climb over it?

1) ice is slippery
2) what's the point of using it if people can climb it anyway?

1) Spikes, ropes, grappling hook, etc.
2) It'll take time to climb over it, giving you a chance to retreat, regroup, heal, plan, etc. :)

1 & 2) basically works the same as having to destroy it, except with more artwork

What if they don't have the means to destroy it?

grunt mobs - the low level entities without powers or special equipment, for one. The player may not even have something capable of dealing with it if a mob uses that power.

what player or mob does not have the ability to attack something?

No idea, since we have nowhere near a complete list of entities. What would they use though - the Icepick of Doom? :)

any kind of attack.
if the player/mob can't attack in some form or fasion, I suggest there are worse problems involved than not being able to destroy the ice.

Attacking it is one thing, attacking it with something that could damage and eventually destroy it is another. You could attack it with your fists, but I wouldn't recommend it. :)

the strength of it would be based on the attacker's skill levels, so if the defender can't break it, he's probably screwed anyway.

In looking at the powers listed in the wiki it became obvious that there needs to be a re-thinking of several of them. The highly-specialized powers probably wouldn't be viewed as worth the effort to learn them and should be consolidated into two powers (heat and cold) that affect a small object or area. The whole design doc in the wiki needs updated, but that stuck out as a potential problem. The other psionic powers probably need to be revisited as well.

let's do it, then.

how about a skill to absorb heat into psi energy. it can't be used to freeze stuff, it's only if the absorbee is above the absorber's body temperature. it only works in very hot days or car engines or something. it could be a semi-defensive shield thing or a touch thing. night.

But it would take psi energy to aborb the heat, converts it and gives you psi energy?!? That sounds like it would take a lot of psi and couldn't give you back more than you used. I could see having powers to absorb heat or cold, but that would be all they'd do. Do we have a psi-drain power already? Psi-to-psi or life energy-to-psi power? Have to check on that.

The heat would already be absorbed as heat, so it'd only have to be converted, which would mean some 'loss', yes.

I was thinking of it being a thing that you 'cast' once, and it lasts for, say 30 seconds. Unless you get hit by a flamethrower or something, chances are that, yes, you'll lose more energy. But it also is protective, as it causes less damage from the heat.

I thought you meant it more as a way to gain psi energy. As a protection that would probably be fine.

well, in some rare cases you would gain psi energy, but yes, it'd mainly be protective.
