In order to try to get things under control a bit more and ensure people are happy and busy ;), I'm starting this and making it sticky. If you're currently working on something please reply with what you're doing. If you have an area you'd like to work on, post it. If you need something to do, reply with what you'd like to do (coding, graphics, etc.) and I'll assign something.

This is so much easier to keep track of with regular in-person meetings. :lol

Current assignments (will be updated as necessary):

Machaira - design & coding (main menu and dialogs state classes)
Trigon Shadow - 3D art, website
Selt
Raikoh
kaveh
IGTHORN
sdw
workmad3
T-1 - Nevada research :), item editor
Sirisian - item class coding
Seoushi
Mr. Awesome
sik0fewl - state class coding
Struan
Codehead - title graphic (honorary since he's not getting involved, not getting involved, not getting involved... ;) 8) )
Sadistic Penguin - code research

I'm in pre-exam mode here :(

Basically, I can't code and I can't draw or model. I'll just try and contribute to story and game design elements.

Ogre - 1.2.0
Boost - 1.33.1
CEGUI - 0.4.1

The SVN in the SourceForge project has project files for VC++ 2005. I don't use CodeBlocks so can't comment.

Get the OGRE SDK, and that comes with CEGUI 0.4.1 set up in it. Then use Visual Studio 2005, and the project files.

On the note of what I'm doing at the moment, I'm also in exam mode. I can probably keep the VC project files updated for now though :P

What is that .ncb file? Does it need to be in SVN or can VC++ generate it? The reason I ask is because it is a fair size (~8mb) and it looks like it has to be updated all the time, which doesn't seem right.

The rule of thumb is that if the file is generated then it doesn't be long in SVN.

Also, use commit messages!

When I get a few things set up, I would be interested in coding something. What are areas of coding that need people?

Personally,I'd think it's better to list the tasks above by task, not by name.

Just a very small opinion :).

I read the comment on commit messages after I had committed that. Also, I removed the ncb file. Its the intellisense DB for the project, so really not needed there. It was a ridiculous size :)

Yeah, I committed everything originally that wasn't user specific without looking. :(

There's already a thread with a bunch of things that are going to need coded. Eventually, I probably will get things set up on the SF task list.

I think mantis might handle that if we choose to use that. I generally recommend steering clear of any of the things offered by SF other than website, SVN and mailing lists. There are usually better solutions out there.

I'll have to look into it, although I dislike having to split up the project like that.

Well, it would be hosted on our sourceforge webspace, although it looks like mantis won't work on there :(. We may have to resort to using SF trackers.

There's a couple of possible areas:

Dialogs I noted in the GUI System thread (I'm already working on the main menu) - which means you'll have to learn CEGUI
Gameplay related classes:
Entity (base class for player character, NPCs, monster, inherits Ogre::Entity)
Quest
Skill

The Entity class will be needed before anything else, since the first thing a player will do when he starts the game is customize his character. If you've been following the chats on IRC you should know what all will go into it. If not, let me know and I can give you some properties of the Entity (if that's what you want to do).

edit: added Entity being derived from Ogre::Entity
