It would be neat if there was a page that acted as a central hub to everyones project. I'd love to be able to click on someone's name on the forums, and be linked to a page detailing what they're currently working on. Thoughts?

Sounds like the announcement forum, or like the journal codehead mentioned earlier.

Yep, it's a nice idea and something we had in the past.

Journals and user pages were quite cool for a while. I think the growth of blogs probably killed them off. I suppose we could highlight user pages by putting them on the landing page. A new namespace for Projects might help there too. Clint's landing page code would make it fairly simple to pull the info from the DB.

I have thought about putting WordPress on the server as it's far better suited to Journals than the Wiki. However, I've never run it as a multi-user platform and it'll also mean that there will be three logins to remember for one site. :confused

My first thought was 'user signature' below each post. It wouldn't help me though, as I have them disabled :p

I think most people with projects have links to their websites / blogs in their signature.

As in you can't add a signature to your posts?

Try now. We had to disable signatures for new users for spam, but you should be able to add a signature in your profile after you've managed to post a few times without being banned. :)

As in, I have the "display signatures below posts" turned off, as I find them annoying.

On the other hand, I have no problems with telling others what I am doing ;)

Edit: It seems I missed to toggle an option, hopefully it is now attached.

Really?

On this forum we have a strict no-image policy for signatures, and we urge users to keep their signatures to 4-5 lines at most.

Even so, you find them annoying still? (I ask out of curiosity primarily -- we want to keep things clean around here... but I'm wondering how reasonable or unreasonable you are about such things. ;) )

Oh, you have a much better policy then.

Such a policy sounds quite sane to me.

I never even saw the signatures. Immediately after getting an account, I went through the options to set them to my preferences.
In that round, I just turned them off based on my experiences with another board.

Understandable. I've been to many boards that seem to have lots of three-word posts, but with signatures with animated banners, flash embeds, and all kinds of horrid stuff.

You're safe here, though. ;)
