Just looking for some really basic advice or resources for learning to program. I'm JUST starting out, I'm reading this book Learn VB in 21 Days and I'm maybe 6 lessons in. So I'm getting some of the terminology down and have done some exercises to learn just a little bit.

Are there any books or resources out there specific to VB game programming? There are several programs I'd like to create, but virtually all of them are text based sports simulators...ie an MMA simulator where you create fighters with different skill attributes and they fight (similar to a Pro Wrestling simulator, of which there are many.) Or a basketball or hockey simulator that can produce accurate results for fantasy sports simulations. Thanks in advance for any pointers!
